About This Spot

Stepping into Martiny’s on a lively East 17th Street evening, you’re immediately wrapped in a quiet kind of intimacy—a contrast to the New York City buzz just outside its doors. The bar feels like a well-kept secret where space is precious and conversations are hushed but alive. Soft lighting complements the polished wood and subtle artful touches, creating a mood that invites both celebration and quiet reflection.

The pace here is unhurried, encouraging guests to linger over thoughtfully crafted cocktails that seem to carry stories of their own. Whether you choose a cocktail that balances the familiar with a twist—the kind that dances between classic and unexpected—or one that reveals the bartenders’ deep expertise, each sip reveals care and precision. The menu quietly teases with inventive pairings, where the crispness of a Caprese-inspired drink may mingle with a savory note of wagyu beef or a tender oyster, making the evening feel like a series of small, layered discoveries.

The bar’s attentive yet unobtrusive service suggests a team committed to creating moments rather than just drinks. Here, you don’t just order; you embark on a collaborative experience that appreciates your palate and pace. It’s the kind of place where time seems to stretch, allowing conversation and memory to take center stage without distractions.

Martiny’s strikes a rare balance—familiar enough to feel like a reliable refuge, but infused with subtle details that charm even the most seasoned cocktail lovers. It’s an ideal spot for those who appreciate the nuances behind each blend, seeking a place where the quiet hum of a perfect drink complements meaningful human connection.

Now this was an impromptu stop after a show, and to celebrate a new job offer! Boy did this place deliver on fancy. We walked in and sought out bar seating, we waited less than three minutes to be escorted in and sat at a cozy table a few steps in. Like all New York venues this place was space at a premium. So imagine our surprise that we were able to walk in with relative ease. The next group behind us was quoted approx forty five minutes for another table and we can see why. We had oysters with caviar, the marinated elevated tomato dish both to split. I ordered their variation of a dirty martini and my friend loved their Melon martini. The server was the absolute highlight. So knowledgeable, friendly, and with just the right sense of humor to have us all laughing all together. The banter was so witty and enjoyed. Overall a very unique place for an elevated martini experience, pricey but worth every moment

Martiny’s is what Sip and Guzzle wishes it was. The atmosphere is intimate and lovely; the staff are very attentive and thoughtful; and the martinis are creative and taste so good. My husband and I came here for drinks after work. Our reservation was only for two hours, and we enjoyed a few speciality martinis and some of their bar snacks. The drinks are good, strong, and very well-made. There’s no pretense here or stuffiness; just well-crafted drinks and great food and service.

Honestly this place deserves a flat 4.85- PS round up. The bartenders and staff here are stellar, and literally are Michellin level. Period. Full stop. I've been to other top 50 cars in the world and this one is absolutely above the rest. The consistency of the drinks, the quality of the people here asking with the bartenders bring the level to a top 15 bar. The bartenders are so amazing. They are really awesome along with the staff making sure you are always doing amazing without hovering or disappearing like ice experienced in other places. I've been here a few times and the bartenders are literally gods. The presentation and meticulous balance of every drink comes out clean and the flavor profile is executed flawlessly. I can't recommend this place enough. The one knock I have on this place is the food portions. The flavor of the food and it being delicious to all ends is why I order, but the portions again make me regret it after I get a bite. Thank you Philip and Ethan.

We waited outside for 15 minutes on a Sunday evening to get a bar seat by the front. There were four other parties waiting with us without reservation around that time. The drinks were pretty strong and enjoyable. The snacks were pretty good and immaculate too. I enjoyed the ambiance of the bar. The service gave me awkward vibes but overall they were talented bartenders. I may go again to try different drinks.

Martiny nails the balance between timeless and inventive. Their classic cocktails are executed flawlessly that remind you why these drinks became classics in the first place. The curated cocktail list adds a fresh twist, with creative flavors that still feel elegant and restrained. The space is intimate and cozy, making it perfect for a pre-dinner drink or a slow, sophisticated nightcap. A gem for cocktail lovers who appreciate both tradition and thoughtful experimentation. It’s definitely a place where you came for their drinks but fall for their food. The bar offers a refined nod to modern Japanese bar culture, offering bold, umami-rich bites that pair perfectly with the cocktails.

I’ve been going to Martiny’s every month for nearly two years and it is hands down my favorite bar in the city. It has the most exquisite, complex cocktails that delivers on experience and taste every time. They have a seasonal menu that changes quite regularly, as well as a menu of permanent cocktails. Everything is delicious, and I particularly love the Caprese and the Melon Soda (summer special). Book ahead as they are reservations only, and while the cocktails aren’t cheap, each one is nuanced, balanced, and carefully thought out. Also, shout out to the team (Rial, Ryoko, Philip, Maria, Miguel, et al.) for always providing the best service and making a girl feel welcome.

I finally made it to Martiny’s, a martini bar in Gramercy, and it exceeded expectations. The ambiance is wonderful… an old carriage house turned pottery studio, now transformed into a cozy bar with Japanese flair and unique cocktails. The interior is gorgeous, laid-back, and no-frills. We sat downstairs near the large bar, which was a great vantage point. You know it’s a good spot when you keep asking your server about the drinks the bartender is making. I started with the Orangtini — an Earl Grey martini with Grand Marnier, paired with a slice of orange-flavored chocolate. Divine and not too orange forward. While we skipped dinner here, we returned for a second round and I highly recommend the White Grasshopper. It’s a reconstructed take on the classic - lighter, thinner in texture (no milkshake vibes), yet still capturing that delicious flavor. Perfect as an after-dinner drink. We sat upstairs which was even cozier. Highly recommend visiting Martiny’s for a nightcap. A lovely, tucked-away establishment that feels both special and off the beaten track. Service was attentive and wonderful. Make sure you make a reservation in advance - it’s worth it!
